Architecture for Exhibition 2023 Edition
The myth of the Pharaohs
The workshop will be conducted in collaboration with the Akhenaten Museum and will focus on the exhibition space of one of the biggest and most influential museums in Egypt. The construction of this museum started in 2013 with the aim to pay tribute to one of the most important pharaohs of Ancient Egypt. Father of the famous - but less influential - Tutankhamon, to Akhenaten we owe an epochal, albeit ephemeral, revolution of the traditional cult. Today the Akhenaten Museum is one of the most successful architectures in contemporary Egypt, it is located in El Minya, in upper Egypt, and it is the result of a cultural partnership with Berlin Neues Museum, where the famous bust of Nefertiti - the wife of Akhenaten - is kept. Through the workshop, students will have the opportunity to contribute to the final design of the big museum and to compare themselves with one of the cultural horizons that has most influenced the museography of all time: Ancient Egypt.
