Design of a Bivouac in the Italian Alps

Design of a Bivouac in the Italian Alps

The workshop, conducted in collaboration with the Cantieri d'Alta Quota cultural association, concerned the design
of a bivouac/shelter at Comba di Vertosan, in Val d'Aosta region in Italy. Located at an altitude of 2800 m, in a breathtaking landscape, the intervention site represented not only an exciting technical challenge, but also the opportunity to intervene in one of the most fascinating and evocative architectural design contexts that a designer can see.

Cantieri d'Alta Quota

The cultural association was founded in May
2012 in Biella. Its aims are research, spreading and sharing of historical, design, geographical, social and economic information on shelter buildings at high altitudes, places that are environmentally extreme. The association aims at being an observatory, an exchange platform for those who - for different reasons - work and live in, or go to the mountains.
