Martine Bedin is a French designer and architect, born in Bordeaux in 1957. She studied architecture in Paris and, thanks to a scholarship in 1978, moved to Florence, where she collaborated with Adolfo Natalini and the Superstudio group. In 1979, she participated in the 16th Milan Triennale with the project “Casa Decorata.” In December 1980, Bedin co-founded the Memphis group in Milan alongside Ettore Sottsass and other designers. For their first collection in 1981, she created the “Super Lamp,” a wheeled lamp with exposed bulbs that became an icon of postmodern design. In 1982, she opened her own design and architecture studio in Milan and taught design at the École Camondo in Paris. Over the course of her career, Bedin has worked across various creative fields, using materials such as marble, wood, metal, and ceramics. In 1993, she was awarded the title of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture. Her works are featured in major museums, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
