Lukas Rungger

Lukas Rungger (b. 1977, South Tyrol) studied architecture at Graz University of Technology, Austria. He spent an Erasmus period in Brussels and later wrote his thesis in NYC under the supervision of Prof. Hrvoje Njirić. Lukas began his professional career in Graz and later moved to London, where he worked for Jestico + Whiles and Softroom. He then joined Matteo Thun's studio in Milan. In 2011, Lukas returned to Bolzano and co-founded NOA with Stefan Rier. The studio develops projects across a wide range of sectors, including hospitality, urban design, housing, mixed-use, cultural, and public spaces. NOA’s most notable works include the Messner House, the Zallinger alpine village, the Hubertus Pool, Hub of Huts, and Monastero. Lukas actively contributes to architectural discourse, regularly delivering guest lectures for European Chambers of Architects and internationally renowned universities. He has also served as a juror in several architecture competitions, including the Archiproducts Design Awards, Archello, and the Identity Awards. In addition to professional recognition, Lukas has appeared in various documentaries, including an episode of the BBC's Amazing Hotels and The Architects Series by The Plan, highlighting his significant contribution to contemporary architecture.
